A few posts ago, I re-posted an article from a Toronto Psychotherapist talking about the importance of girlfriends. This post goes hand in hand with that one.

So, I belong to this amazing group of woman. When I moved here 5.5 years ago with a 10 month old baby, I felt isolated and lonely. I didn't know the area and I didn't have any friends here. Plus, have a child who wasn't a great sleeper left me constantly tired and irritable. I didn't know what to do or where to go to keep us occupied those LONG (and I mean really LONG) days! I was so fortunate to find the MOMS Club of Coventry PA which is part of the International MOMS Club. I started going to their monthly meetings and soon enough, we had our activity calendar filled to the brim. We were involved in playgroups, went to parks and zoos, had story times and music, went to kiddie gymnastics, and even I went to the occasional Moms Night Out. Before long, I had become friends with these women. They are diverse, and caring, and some of the most generous people I have ever met. They lend a helping hand with meals or babysitting when you are in need of support. I have learned so much from them and I hope that they have learned from me.

I have taken on leadership roles within the Club as Vice President and Treasurer. I have participated in the nominating committee to help the Club elect officers and have also helped with planning the yearly banquet. I do all of this not because I needed more on my plate. I do it because I need the support and so do my children. I hope that my kids, as well as myself, have gained some life long friendships.

With all that being said, I wanted to encourage all those new moms (and also the experienced ones) out there to look into this group. They are all over the country and world. They really are a special group of Moms Offering Moms Support.

My Club is gearing up for their annual banquet at a local golf club. It is usually a fantastic night for moms to get out and have a nice dinner and conversation with their friends without the kids interrupting. There are door prize giveaways and I was asked to donate a few items of jewelry so this is what I came up with:

A hand painted and stamped wire wrapped domino pin:

A pewter hummingbird bookmark:

A Fluorite memory wire bracelet:

A pair of sterling silver ear wires with stoneware beads:

I hope that if you are in need of some motherly support, you would check out this group.

I hope the weather is beautiful where you are. Today was THE BEST here in Pennsylvania. I don't like it too hot nor do I like it too cold, but today was just right. It was around 70 degrees with a breeze. My boys and I spent most of the day outside enjoying this spectacular day. I got the grass cut and Morning Glory seeds planted on the outside of our fence. I can't wait to see them grow up the fence. I know they will look great! Here are a few pictures I snapped throughout the day.

This is our garden. Right now we are growing spinach, lettuce, beets, scallions, radishes and sweet peas. We will plant tomatoes and zucchinis a little bit later.

I just hung my fern baskets yesterday and filled up my birdfeeder. I have some other flower seeds I want to plant in a few weeks. I love to have a colorful garden. It makes the house so inviting.

Here are my boys: Brennon (almost 6) and Noah (almost 2). Noah loves to have his big brother give him rides.

Hope you weekends are wonderful.

Why We Need Our Girlfriends....

I'm stealing this blog post from Kimberly Moffit, a psychotherapist for young woman based out of Toronto. I follow her blog and thought this was so appropriate after my girlfriends really made me feel so special this past weekend. I can't imagine life without girlfriends! ENJOY!

How important is it to have good girlfriends? As a woman, I've realized that the powers of a girl-bond extend much deeper than one might think.

Yesterday, while shooting a segment for Cosmo TV, I was asked about "girl crushes." I talked with the host about about why women develop admiration and bond with each other.

The host mentioned "Bromance," and how it's becoming more acceptable for men to outwardly show their affection towards one another. This got me thinking about girl friendships and the special bond that we have with our best friends.

It's extremely important to have other women in our lives: Girlfriends, cousins, sisters, and yes, even our mothers. As a psychotherapist I've watched the lives of women change as their boyfriends come and go, their careers end/begin, and their hearts break. But through it all, it seems that strong relationships with the women in our lives will provide us with a helping hand whenever times get tough.

Good girlfriends:

a) know when something's wrong
b) know when we're not ourselves
c) always suspect when a man isn't treating us the way he should

It's so important to see your girlfriends regularly. Even, and especially, when you have a serious boyfriend/husband. Take them to lunch, invite them out on a day trip, tell them how important they are to you.!

For Today, April 14, 2009...

Outside my window
... chilllly and rainy today! Brrrr.

I am thinking... when is it going to start feeling like Spring. It's been so rainy and miserable.

I am thankful for... that my hubbie is billable on a project.

From the kitchen... marinating a London Broil for the grill tonight.

I am wearing... jeans and a new teal and brown shirt and hooded sweatshirt. I got it for my upcoming birthday from my parents.

I am reading... Angels by Marian Keyes.

I am hoping... that I get some progress made on my Wedding In A Box work.

I am creating... Wedding In A Box scrabble tile pendant necklaces for my WIAB collegues.

I am hearing... the kids fighting over the TV and the washing machine spinning.

Around the house... putting away wash, tiding up for the cleaning lady to clean today.

One of my favorite things... feeling organized.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Help Joy get ready for her art show, go to the art show, dinner and comedian with friends for my birthday, brian leaves for Germany on Saturday.

Here's a picture of something I've been working on:

Have a simple and beautiful day!

Bundled Giveaway

I am so excited to be doing this giveaway for my internet friend, Heather Larson, over at Bundled. She recently revamped her whole shoppe and moved it to a new location at www.bundled.etsy.com. Since I've known Heather she's been called Twin Mommy Productions and also Zwei Baby but now she's BUNDLED and she features a small collection of modern, useful and affordable baby gear. So head over to her shoppe and check out her talents!

One of my favorite items that she offers is a Bundled Lounger. Bundle Loungers are a stylish and simple way to lounge the day away. Elastic bottoms make for an easy on / easy off fit through all those diaper changes too. Whether your hanging out at home or having friends over for a playdate, these loungers are the way to do it in style!

Heather has graciously offered to giveaway one of these adorable loungers. This is what you have to do:
